Like anything else, retirement is something you have to buy.
However, unlike other purchases, you cannot take out a loan to
pay for it. You have to know what you want in retirement and
make a plan to get there.
The “four-legged chair” is an illustration we use frequently at URSJJ
and serves as a starting point in determining the necessary
provisions we need for a secure retirement. Social Security,
employer-sponsored retirement plans like URSJJ, personal
savings and investments, and working in retirement represent
four possible sources of income we may use to support us in
our retirement years. These income sources work together to
provide real retirement security.
