Calling All Medicare Beneficiaries!
Medicare 2012 Annual Enrollment Period for 2013
October 15 ♦ December 07
Once again all Medicare beneficiaries have 7 weeks from
October 15th to December 7th to look at their current Medicare
Part D Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) and compare it with
the dozens of other plans offered in 2013.
At NODA Area Agency on Aging (NODA AAA,)
Judy Rupp and AJ Shorter are trained annually by the Centers
for Medicare Services and the Oklahoma Insurance Department
(OID) to provide Part D counseling and enrollment assistance.
Both have years of experience and are registered with the OID
as Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) counselors.
Why is it so important to check your coverage? The PDP's can
change anything and everything about their plans from year to
year, including premiums amounts, drug coverage, and restrictions
that might hinder your ability to get the medications your doctor
has prescribed. Of course the plans are required to tell you about
every change they will be making in 2013. They will do so in a
40 to 60 page Notice of Change letter sent to you in October.
How many of those pages do you really think you will read?
Probably not enough to find out what you need to know for 2013.
We have found that 8 out of 10 people can save money by changing
plans every year. For the past 2 years at NODA AAA the average
savings have been $500 or more per person. For this reason it is
extremely important for people to check their current plans against
what else might be available. Making the wrong choice could cost
you money and you could be paying more money for less coverage.
Do not miss this chance, from October 15 to December 7 ,
to look at your Medicare Part D coverage for 2013
and find out if changing plans would be good for you.
