Offices will open for business Tuesday, February 19. Former ASCOG President Gale Humble Died January 5: Gale was Comanche County commissioner (District 1) for many years. His ASCOG service included: ASCOG board 1981 – 1993; President 1984 – 1986; Private Industry Council 1988 – 1992; Chief Elected Official 1990, 1991. He served on the Oklahoma Association of Regional Councils board for many, many years and attended monthly meetings through November 2012. – He was 88. – We will miss him. CDBG Applications: Third reminder!! Now is the time to be working on completing the preliminary work that will be required for CDBG applications. There is no doubt that funding will be reduced so now is the time to put in the effort needed to ensure the best application possible can be submitted. That won’t happen if you wait until the last minute. Your Council should be discussing possible projects NOW. If you need assistance, please let ASCOG’s CED staff help you. Workforce Investment Board: Thank you to Barbara Wilson, Jefferson County, and Pat Beck, Comanche County for a combined total of 16 years as directors of SCOWIB. Their contributions to the board and service to the citizens of South Central Oklahoma is appreciated. Senior Day at the Capitol: This event on February 25 is sponsored by OKDHS Aging Services Division. For more information contact Heather Sladek at ASCOG. ASCOG Aging Advocate: Supportive services division regularly publishes a newsletter called the Aging Advocate. The Advocate contains news and articles related to aging and disability services.
