CHANGING DEMOGRAPHICS A Catalyst for a Pro-Growth Oklahoma January 2009 Nulla facilisi: Pellentesque eu aliquet vel. Vitae vehicula lobo rtis. Ultricies mole stie libero dignissim id mauris, mus nec tempus lorem. OKLAHOMA KIDS COUNT FAST FACTS Children in immigrant families are among the fastest growing segment of our population – and fastest growing segment of our future workforce needed to support the state’s leading industries. Almost one million Oklahomans are children under age 18, and one in every 10 is the child of an immigrant family – most of those children are U.S. citizens. Immigrant families in Oklahoma bring strengths -- family stability and cohesive communities. They also bring challenges with lower skills, lower grades, lower high school graduation rates, lower college attainment, and a higher percentage of children and families living in poverty. Recent research shows that Oklahoma’s immigrant population is making significant contributions to the state economy. Created by Scissortail Creative, November 1, 2012 Voices for Oklahoma’s future.
