Southeastern History Professor Writes Book on Jimmy Carter and the Religious Right Eight years of research has resulted in the publication of “Jimmy Carter, the Politics of Family, and the Rise of the Religious Right.” Published by the University of Georgia Press, this is the third book authored by SE history professor J. Brooks Flippen. It is already generating positive reviews. OSU Researcher Receives $740,000 to Study Explosive-Detecting Rats An Oklahoma State University researcher has received a $740,000 grant to study African giant pouched rats and determine the best behavioral and genetic traits to look for in selecting rats to detect explosives. OCCC Helps SHINE for Students; Conference to Encourage, Reward Community Service Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) is assisting county and city officials in unveiling a new program to encourage high school and college students to engage in community service. SHINE for Students is a program designed to recognize students who have given at least 100 hours of community service with a special certificate and a cord they can wear on their graduation gowns. Five Outstanding Seniors Named Chancellor Hans Brisch Scholars Outstanding leadership, civic involvement and academic talent have earned five Oklahoma high school seniors a scholarship named in honor of one of Oklahoma’s former chancellors.
