DRS has flown the coop The MSD Leadership Team take a break in front of the the chicken coop at Goli’s place in Norman. OSD Holiday Greeting→ Tell Us What YOU Think Holiday greetings from OSD students broadcast statewide on TV School for the Deaf students hit the KOKH Fox 25 TV airwaves on Nov. 19 with signed and spoken Holiday Greetings for the public and their families. A series of 30 and 15 second messages were recorded the week before Thanksgiving featuring elementary and high school students; football, cheerleading and basketball teams; and several groups of students who sent special greetings to their home towns. KOKH Account Executive Brittany Jo Curtis successfully pitched the concept to KaAnn Varner and Business Manager Betty Stephens based on holiday greetings campaigns from the troops and a similar ad campaign from a school for the deaf in another state. OSD Superintendent KaAnn Varner loved the idea and pulled it off with assistance from her capable secretary, Sally Henry. Henry coordinated groups of students wearing red Santa hats in the school gym. OSD Drama Teacher Arthur Waldrip set up a back drop of snow-covered trees created for OSD’s holiday play. OSB alumni promote school pride with panther statue Awards Continued→ Tell Us What YOU Think Vocational Rehabilitation and Visual Services Honor Outstanding Staff The VR and VS divisions held their annual Awards and Recognition Luncheon, Tuesday, December 11. Staff gathered to enjoy a day of celebration and fellowship among the division. The day started off with an inspirational talk with Jack McManahann of Wilderness Matters. He spoke of the need to advocate and work towards making Oklahoma parks accessible to all. Director Mike O'Brien address the group touting the outstanding work they had done this year and announcing that they achieved the second highest closure rate in DRS history. He then honored 118 VR or VS staff with his Building Blocks for those who went above and beyond their normal work duties. After lunch the divisions broke into two groups where each division awarded their individual program awards. It was a great day.
