OK DRS Breaking Barriers - Volume 2, Edition 11 - June 11, 2013 http://www.okrehab.org/BreakingBarriers/2013/06-11/index.html[9/26/2013 10:36:25 AM] Disaster continued Tell Us What YOU Think VR/VS open disaster relief location following May 19-20 tornados When disaster struck on May 19 and 20, 24 Oklahomans lost their lives, 237 were injured and 3,397 homes and business were destroyed or damaged. VR Program Manager Jan Hatch stepped up to answer the question, “What can DRS do to make a difference?” Hatch asked her pastor for a list of disaster relief locations, which led her to set up a VR/VS table at St. Andrews Methodist Church over the Memorial Day weekend that stayed open through May 31. “Our goal was to help former and potential clients who lost their place of employment or now have disabilities that were not present before the recent severe weather,” she said. Graduation continued→ Tell Us What YOU Think Seniors, OSB/OSD staff, families celebrate 2013 graduation “Keep calm and carry on” was the message on the program cover for 21 graduates who marched solemnly across the stage at Oklahoma School for the Deaf on May 22. The next day, May 23, seven Oklahoma School for the Blind seniors climbed the stairs for the last time and turned to smile at family and friends completely filling the historic auditorium. Every graduate was beaming. The only people shedding a few tears seemed to be staff and superintendents.
