It’s not the view from his new corner office that excites Jason Jessie, Northeastern State University director of High School & College Relations—it’s the fresh perspective that comes with it. Jessie is one of many Northeastern State staffers who have ‘made the move’ to the new Center for Admissions and Student Enrollment (CASE) building located across from the Business & Technology Building. NSU officials and the Regional University System of Oklahoma Board of Regents formally dedicated the center with a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday, July 30. “Our old office was the first building you came to on campus, but it was also as far away from the everyday student activity as it could get,” explains Jessie. “Our new centralized location allows us to see more students and become part of that energy.” The renovated 20,000 square-foot building, once an industrial arts facility, now serves as a ‘front porch’ to welcome prospective, new and current students ‘home’ to Northeastern. Jessie’s department joins other essential student services, including First-Year Experience, Student Financial Services & Scholarships, ID Office, Cashier, Admissions & Records for the first time under the same roof. Students can now enroll, seek financial aid and counseling assistance, request transcripts and even pay fees in one convenient location. These services previously required stops at several buildings across campus. The CASE building renovation was funded as part of $23 million NSU received from a $475 million statewide college bond issue in 2005. reflections THE OFFICIAL NEWSLETTER OF NORTHEASTERN STATE UNIVERSITY CASE Welcomes NSU Students Home Center for Admissions and Student Enrollment offers one-stop convenience JULY 2009 President Don Betz, third from left, is joined by Regional University System of Oklahoma Regents Jan Gordon, Connie Reilly, Sandy Garrett, and Harold Jackson, along with Vice President Kim Cherry and Northeastern Student Government Association President Glen Evans in a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new CASE building on NSU’s Tahlequah campus. Nearly 100 community members, civic leaders, and NSU faculty and staff also attended the dedication.
