Services to Creek and Osage Counties IAAA has been awarded a $20,000 grant from the Community Transportation Association of America to strengthen coordinated transportation partnerships and promote community living. Project C.O.R.E. (Connecting Oklahomans in Rural Environments) will build upon the transportation coordination system implemented in Creek County in 2012. During this time, IAAA initiated an inclusive coordinated transportation program in rural Creek County to merge various transit options including church busses, senior center vans, medical carriers and other transit options to create a coordinated transportation system utilizing Cimarron Public Transit. To evaluate the results in Creek County and to apply the “lessons learned” in Osage County, Project C.O.R.E. will conduct 300 surveys in Creek and Osage Counties followed by three focus groups in Creek County and three in Osage County. After the surveys and focus groups have been completed, each county will hold a town hall meeting to summarize the suggestions and ideas obtained from the surveys and focus groups. During these meetings, community members, policy makers and elected officials will be given the opportunity to voice their opinions, ideas, and concerns and to assist in generating ideas for how to move forward in creating a more inclusive, consumer-friendly community transportation model.
