The promotional ceremony was scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday, December 2, 2013 at the Robert R. Lester Training Center in Oklahoma City. All were given the opportunity to contribute a career biography and comments regarding this special occasion, beginning with Cpt. Brent Sugg, a native of Norman, Oklahoma, who obtained his bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership from the University Of Central Oklahoma. After serving with the Norman Police Department, he joined the Oklahoma Highway Patrol in 1999 by graduating from the 51st Oklahoma Highway Patrol Academy. Sugg made an early impression on troopers and civilians alike with his memorable eulogy of fellow trooper Matt Evans who was tragically killed in the line of duty in August 2000. Both began their highway patrol careers with a first assignment in Troop A Oklahoma City. Sugg has also been assigned to Troop Z Criminal Investigations and Troop Z Criminal Investigation/ Internal Affairs where he was promoted to lieutenant, Troop T
