Commerce Launches New Website COMMUNITY DEVELOPER June 2012 DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE The Oklahoma Department of Commerce has launched a new web presence for the agency featuring a new, cleaner, customer-focused design. “Our goal was to not only clean up any outdated material that was still online, but to make the site easier to navigate,” said Bryan Boone, internet media manager, Oklahoma Department of Com-merce. One area of the new website to receive attention is the look and feel. The site now mirrors the design of the sales collateral materi-als used by Commerce to draw national and international invest-ment to the state. “We wanted all of our material to share a common look that re-flects the friendly character of our state,” said Boone. “This isn’t just a website; it’s a dynamic recruitment and retention tool for Oklahoma.” According to Boone, the front page of the new site will change regularly to reflect different industries important to Oklahoma’s economy, such as energy, manufacturing or aerospace. The new site will also allow visitors to see where the Department of Commerce is going to promote the state. Through the new “upcoming events” section visitors can see the dates and locations of conferences, tradeshows and upcoming events. This gives busi-nesses, entrepreneurs and the public another opportunity to engage with Commerce staff.
